How the tier is decided
In millwork / furniture pricing guides the tier is driven mainly by the finish suffix (the part after the dash), with two overrides: a premium design collection (Wilsonart designs ending in K, Formica 180fx® / ColorCore2® designs) is Premium/Specialty even in a standard finish. This tool applies exactly those rules, plus a starter name database for common designs.

* Formica -90 Gloss and -42 Crystal appear as “standard finishes” on some Formica product pages, but many millwork/furniture pricing guides price them with an upcharge. This tool flags -90 as Premium with a “confirm with your supplier” note rather than guessing. Final tier can also depend on grade (postforming / vertical), sheet size, and whether the finish is a stock finish for that design — always confirm a Premium/Specialty result with your laminate supplier before a firm quote.
